The check
Find out where you stand in about three minutes.
Four short steps. You don’t need the paperwork, the agreement number or the lender’s name — the search finds agreements held in your name.
Have you had a car, van or motorbike on finance at any time between 2007 and 2024?
That includes PCP, hire purchase and any finance the dealership arranged for you, whether it's paid off or still running.
This is a soft search. It won’t show to lenders and has no effect on your credit score.
Why people are checking
£829*
is the average estimated redress per affected agreement.
12.1 million car finance agreements are under review. Regulators and the industry estimate the total could run into billions — and an agreement you’ve long since paid off could be part of it.
Around 37 in every 100 finance agreements are estimated to be potentially affected.
*Industry and regulator estimates, for illustration only. FCA estimates are not a guarantee of any outcome or amount.

Do I qualify?
If any of these sound familiar, it’s worth checking.
- You had a car, van, motorbike or campervan on finance at some point between 2007 and 2024.
- It was PCP, hire purchase, or finance the dealership arranged for you.
- Nobody clearly explained that the dealer would be paid a commission on your deal.
- The finance has since been paid off, or is still running — either is fine.
- You had more than one agreement. Each one can be looked at.
- You no longer have any of the paperwork. That doesn't matter.

Questions
The things people ask before they start.
Will the check affect my credit score?
No. The search for your agreements is a soft search. It leaves a footprint only you can see and has no effect on your credit score.
I don't have any of my old finance paperwork. Can I still check?
Yes. The search looks for finance agreements held in your name using your details and address history, so you don't need agreement numbers, the lender's name or any documents.
What counts as car finance?
PCP (personal contract purchase), hire purchase and other finance arranged through a dealership, on a car, van, motorbike or campervan, taken out between 2007 and 2024.
How much could I get back?
It depends on the agreement. Industry and regulator estimates put the average at around £829 per affected agreement, but those are estimates for illustration only and not a guarantee of any outcome or amount.
Can I complain without using a company?
Yes. You can complain directly to your lender for free and, if you're unhappy with their response, refer it to the Financial Ombudsman Service at no cost. You can also use the FCA's motor-finance redress scheme without representation.
What happens after I sign?
Your claim may be handled by us or referred to our regulated Claims Management partner, who search for your agreements and progress any claim. You'll be kept updated by phone, email or text.
